Robert Griffin III makes Ravens roster

September 1, 2018

Robert Griffin III’s comeback story isn’t over yet.

The former Redskins quarterback made the Baltimore Ravens’ 53-man roster on Saturday after he had a strong preseason and training camp. In Baltimore, he’ll back up starter Joe Flacco and rookie Lamar Jackson.

Griffin, drafted second overall in the 2012 draft by the Redskins, completed nearly 66 percent of his passes in the preseason.

After the Ravens’ 30-20 win Thursday over the Redskins, coach John Harbaugh praised Griffin, though did not indicate his status moving forward.

Griffin did not play against his former team, leaving people to wonder if he would be released.

“Theres no doubt that you want Robert Griffin [III] on your team,” Harbaugh said. “He makes our quarterback room better and stronger. Hes a very good quarterback. He looks like a starter to me. He has been a starter. Certainly a backup in this league, without question. I mean, thats not even close.”

Baltimore’s management ultimately agreed.

For Griffin, making the Ravens’ roster is a positive step in the right direction after his career looked over following his 2016 stint with the Cleveland Browns.
