Plane Makes Emergency Landing Without Nose Landing Gear
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) _ The front landing wheel of an American Eagle turboprop plane jammed in flight Thursday, forcing an emergency landing on the plane’s two back wheels.
None of the 21 passengers and three crew members were injured when Flight 4905 from New York City to Rochester landed at the Greater Rochester International Airport, American Eagle spokesman Don Bedwell said.
As the Saab 340 twin-engine turboprop was coming to a stop it tipped forward and hit its nose on the runway.
The plane had circled the airport for about 40 minutes trying to solve the problem.
