Raymond Olson

November 24, 2018

RICE LAKE -- God called Raymond “Ray” C. Olson, age 89, home where he found eternal peace on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018.

Raymond Clarence Olson was born on June 29, 1929, in Crosby, Minnesota, twin son of Joseph and Emma (Seguin) Olson. After serving his country in the Army during the Korean War, he settled in Watertown where he married Doris J. Schroeder on Oct. 17, 1953. Ray was employed at Watertown Metal Products until 1975. They enjoyed nine years of retirement in Mikana before her passing on April 3, 1984. Ray was a “lucky man” when he found his lifelong companion of 33 years in Diane Merrill. They enjoyed spending time vacationing, hunting, fishing and working on projects together. Our family is forever grateful for her loving care and support over the years and especially during his illness.

Ray enjoyed life by playing his accordion, watching TV, visiting casinos and having a few “cold ones” with his family and friends.

Ray is survived by Diane; daughter, Sandra (Dennis) Quest; son, Curtis (Laureen) Olson; Kris (Ryan) Adkins; grandchildren, Michele Loppnow, Heather (Jeremy) Dehnert, Wyatt Olson and Alex Nispel; great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Blake Loppnow; two sisters, Agnes LaBorde and Gladys VanVickle.

Ray will be welcomed into his new life by his parents and siblings, Godfrey, Leonard, Albin and Ralph (twin) Olson, and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 1-4 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 40 E. Newton St., Rice Lake. Full military honors will be rendered outside the lodge at 3 p.m.

Ray’s family would like to give special thanks to the Lakeview Medical Center’s Hospice Team of Rice Lake for their excellent care and compassion, the Marshfield Clinic and the Rice Lake Veterans Association. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to these organizations.

Dad, until we meet again, the memories you made with us will forever be in our hearts.
