Driver arrested after downtown crash

A woman was taken into custody by Huntington police officers after her vehicle ran into a tractor-trailer truck in the 800 block of 5th Avenue on Wednesday in Huntington.

HUNTINGTON — A woman was taken into police custody Wednesday morning after the vehicle she was driving along 5th Avenue in Huntington crashed into the back of a semi-truck.

The crash was reported just after 10 a.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of 5th Avenue in Huntington in the left center lane. A blue pickup truck with West Virginia tags ran into the trailer of a semi-truck, which was hauling a small amount of lumber at the time, as it was stopped at a red light at the intersection of 9th Street and 5th Avenue.

The semi-truck suffered minor damage, while the pickup truck’s entire front end was smashed.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck, a woman, was taken into custody on suspicion of drug usage.
