girls swimming Brea leads Cards

Senior Allison Brea won two individual events for the Greenwich High School girls swimming team in its 102-78 victory over host Trumbull in an FCIAC meet on Wednesday.

The win upped Greenwich’s record to 7-0.

Brea won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:19.33. She also touched the wall first for the Cardinals in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.33).

Jenna Handali won the 100 freestyle and finished second in the 200 freestyle for the Cardinals. Caterina Li won the 100 backstroke for GHS, posting a time of 1:03.46.

Greenwich began the meet by winning the 200 medley relay race in 1:50.59. The Cardinals also placed first in the 200 freestyle relay.

Lauren Walsh won the 500-yard freestyle (5:22.19) for Trumbull and also had a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:59.23). Isabella Malchow posted a second-place finish for the Cards in the 100 backstroke. Greenwich received another strong finish from its divers, as they placed 1-2-3 on the 1-meter board.
