EDINBURG — Police here arrested one suspect following a Wednesday morning robbery at an IBC Bank.

Police have not released the identity of the man arrested nor the date and time of his arrest. A city of Edinburg news release only notes he was “located a short time later” following the 11:15 a.m. robbery at the bank’s 2205 W. University Drive branch. He was arrested on an aggravated robbery charge.

Police are still looking for Julio Escalona, the second suspect in the case, as well as a female of interest.

According to police, Escalona entered the bank and approached a teller, demanding all the money from the cash drawer. The suspect who has been arrested waited outside before the two men fled the location on foot.

It’s unclear what role the female of interest may have played in the crime.

Escalona, an Alamo resident, is wanted on an aggravated robbery warrant and police said he should be considered armed and dangerous. He is believed to be driving a white-colored Chevy Suburban.

Anyone with knowledge about Escalona’s whereabouts or the identity and whereabouts of the woman is asked to contact the Edinburg Police Department or the Edinburg Crime Stoppers Tips Line at (956) 383-8177.
