Committee slots are filled on Florence County Council
FLORENCE, S.C. – Old faces are in new places on the standing committees of the Florence County Council.
Chairman Waymon Mumford has replaced Councilman Kent Caudle as chairman of the administration and finance committee. Secretary/Chaplain Mitchell Kirby has been added to the committee to replace Caudle.
The members of the committee are now Mumford, Kirby, Councilman James Schofield and Vice Chairman Willard Dorriety.
Councilman Roger Poston has replaced Councilman Alphonso “Al” Bradley as chairman of the agriculture, forestry, military affairs, and intergovernmental relations committee. Caudle has been added to the committee to replace Councilman Jason Springs.
The members of the committee are now Poston, Kirby and Caudle.
Springs has replaced Poston as a member of the public service and county planning committee. The members of that committee are now Dorriety, Bradley and Springs.
Poston has replaced Mumford on the justice and public safety committee. The committee consists of Councilman H. Steven DeBerry IV, Poston and Springs.
Bradley has replaced DeBerry on the education, recreation, health and welfare committee. That committee is now made up of Springs, Kirby and Bradley.
Mumford was elected chairman of the county council at its January meeting. He and Bradley, Schofield, Springs and DeBerry were re-elected unopposed in the 2018 election.
The county council, as required by county code, has five standing committees: administration and finance; public services and county planning; justice and public safety; education, recreation, health and wellness; and agriculture, forestry, military affairs, and intergovernmental relations.
