UML Falls in Rain

LOWELL-- In wet, sloppy conditions, Holy Cross’ Max Krause scored two second-half goals as the Crusaders knocked off the No. 16 UMass Lowell men’s soccer team, 2-1, in the hosts non-conference finale Tuesday night.

After Renatno Kauzlaric (Zagreb, Croatia) gave the River Hawks (6-2-2) the 1-0 lead in the 54th minute, Krause scored on a penalty kick and a deflected free kick in the 67th and 85th minutes, respectively, to secure the Crusaders (2-3-3) upset.

Kauzlaric scored his second goal in as many games after a pass from Roko Prsa.

(Zagreb, Croatia) and after a few touches was able to knock the shot in off the keeper for the lead.

Krause knotted the score with his first tally of the season on shot from the spot after minutes of Crusaders’ pressure. Zach Rowell (Haverhill, ) guessed the right way but the wet ball was able to find the back of the net after hitting his hands.
