Rev. Myron Kell

His love was his Savior, Jesus, and shepherding Christ’s flock was his greatest joy. On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, he went home to be with Jesus.

Myron Ronald Kell was born Aug. 19, 1930, to Herman and Ella (Buerger) Kell in Lake Mills. He was baptized into God’s family on Sept. 14, 1930, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Following the death of his father six years later, he moved with his mother to Milwaukee, where Myron attended Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and School and was confirmed into the Lutheran faith there in 1944. He attended Concordia College for his high school and early college years, graduating from Northwestern College in Watertown. In 1955, he graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon.

In July 1955, Myron was united in marriage with Faith Jeske in Milwaukee. God blessed their marriage with four children: Stephanie, Lauren, Karen and Daniel.

Upon graduation from the seminary, Myron was assigned to the dual parish of Grace Lutheran Church in Durand, Michigan, and Hope Lutheran Church in Swartz Creek, Michigan. He served those congregations from 1955-1960. He then followed Calls to Apostles Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio, and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan. While in Ann Arbor, he also served Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter, Michigan, for several years.

In 1969, Myron was Called to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, where he served until his retirement. Following his retirement, he continued to serve St. Mark’s part time together with dear friend and classmate Professor Cyril Spaude until 1999. Then followed serving pastoral vacancies at Hope Lutheran Church in West Palm Beach, Florida; Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Daytona Beach, Florida; Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Clearwater, Florida; Living Water Lutheran Church in Richmond, Virginia; and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manassas, Virginia.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Herman and Ella Kell; his brother Stanley; his sister Evelyn Bartusch; brothers-in-law Victor Bartusch, the Rev. Elwood Zimmermann, Robert Huwiler and the Rev. John Jeske; sister-in-law Betty Zimmermann; and mother- and father-in-law, the Rev. John and Elizabeth Jeske.

He is survived by his wife, Faith; four children and their spouses; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. His children are Stephanie (the Rev. James) Lindloff of Stacy, Minnesota; Lauren (the Rev. Peter) Zietlow of Montello; Karen (Thomas) Krueger of Menomonie; and Daniel (Kimberly) Kell of Zumbrota, Minnesota. His grandchildren are Ben (Caitlin) Zietlow; Anne (the Rev. David) Starr; Jacob (Rebekah) Zietlow; Katherine Zietlow (fiancé Justin Digman); Nicholas (Abigail) Krueger; Lucas (Anna) Krueger; Andrea (Nathan) Diebel; Sarah (Erich) Ostermann; and Nathan, David, Joshua and Emily Kell. His great-grandchildren are Zoe and Jesse Zietlow; Evelyn and Isla Starr; and Caroline and Daniel Krueger. His surviving sisters-in-law are Ruth Huwiler and Eleanor Jeske.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Family and friends may gather at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
