Clear Springs’ Nebout takes third at state golf tournament

Clear Springs’ Niko Nebout fired rounds of 71 and 69 to finish third in the University Interscholastic League Class 6A state golf tournament Monday and Tuesday at Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown.

Nebout tied for third with Dallas Hankamer of Belton. Clear Creek’s Jacob Salazar, also competing as a medalist, had rounds of 89-73 for a 162 total.

Nebout also advanced to the state tournament three previous years as a member of the Charger golf team.

The Clear Falls boys fired decent rounds of 311-305 for a 616 total, but finished 12th in the team standings.

Knight players and their scores were: Christian Hernandez 75-72—147, Preston Holmes 75-79—154, Cameron Curtis 79-77—156, Ethan Dahl 82-77—159 and Mick Foley 91-83—174.

Austin Westlake ran away with the team title with an 11-under total of 289-276—565. Austin Vandegrift was second at 585 and Austin Westlake’s No. 2 team was third with a 598 total.
