Oregon Candlelight Walk

OREGON – The 32nd annual Candlelight Walk runs from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the downtown.

A “Candy Cane Lane” safe walking zone for families will be set up between Fourth and Third streets, with food and beverage vendors, live reindeer, warming stations, and attractions.

Horse-drawn rides will be given from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the north side of the Coliseum on Fourth Street. A holiday gift fair will take place inside. There also will be a children’s winter carnival, with games for 25 cents each, a balloon artist, and Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will arrive at 3 p.m.

There also will be a 50-50 raffle. Tickets are available at Express Lane Shell, Flower Path, Hazel’s Cafe, J.T.I. Salon and Merlin’s Greenhouse.

Shop Small, rock big at Rosbrook

DIXON – In conjunction with Shop Small Saturday, Rosbrook Studio Art & Music Venue is offering a full slate of music from 8 to 11 p.m. in the 100 block of South Peoria Avenue.

The split bill features local favorites Acoustic Circus and Jay Vonn & Friends. These musicians have been entertaining in the Sauk Valley area and beyond for more than 20 years, offering creative music laced with originals and clever renditions of cover favorites.

Doors open at 7 p.m.; beverages and pizza will be available by Mama Cimino’s. A $5 donation is suggested to help support the Rosbrook Studio community space.

STERLING – A R&B show and open mic night featuring Jerry Criss and Hitz City R&B band runs from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the Starlight Lounge, 314 First Ave. There’s room to dance, room to jam, and no cover charge.

Over in Rock Falls, Trippin Molly with special guest Chaotic Force play today and Brass Buckle performs Saturday, both from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., at the Whiskey Barrle, 305 W. Second St.

And in Prophetstown, the In-A-Jam band plays from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Cragel’s, 345 Washington St.

DIXON – Fourth Fridays Open Mic begins at 7 p.m. at Post House Community Center, 100 W. Second St.

Each musician or band performs four songs, and a jam session follows. Instruments are acoustic, a sound system is provided, and poets and short-story writers are welcome.

Feather your nest with some art

OREGON – The Eagle’s Nest Art Group will have a free art show from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at its gallery at Conover Square Mall, 201 N. Third St.

Oil, watercolor, acrylic, ceramics, photography, alcohol ink, pen and ink, calligraphy, prints, cards, jewelry and 3D art will be on display, with various artists present. Select works will be available for sale; proceeds will benefit Hands On Oregon projects.
