Aces back-to-back champions of Cumberland Tournament
GREENUP, Ill. -- Six Aces finished first in their weight class, leading the Mount Carmel wrestling team to a championship at the Cumberland Tournament on Saturday at Cumberland High School.
The victory marked their second tournament victory of the season and placed them as back-to-back champions of the Cumberland Tournament.
Mount Carmel finished first with a score of 235 points among a group of four schools. Robinson finished second with 182.5 points and Fithian Oakwood and Monticello tied for third with a score of 174 points each.
Finishing first in the weight classes for Mount Carmel, Cade Keepes in the 113 pound weight class, Dayton Hall in the 120 pound class, Chevvy Wood in the 132 pound class, Nate Critchfield in the 152 pound class, Chris Shelby in the 170 pound class and Ryan Johnson in the 180 pound class.
The remaining Aces were Jack Deisher in fourth place in the 132 pound class, Kenny Taylor did not place in the 145 pound class, Sebastian Lowe did not place in the 160 pound class, Dalton Farrar finished fifth in the 195 pound class, Trent Rafferty did not place in the 220 pound class and Elliott Laws finished second in the 285 pound class.
With another successful tournament in the books, Mount Carmel will face Lawrenceville next, while looking to continue their success in the first half of the season. The match will be at Lawrenceville on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m.
