UML Falls in Season Finale
BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Stef Smith had 21 points as Vermont topped UMass Lowell 74-57 on Tuesday night in the River Hawks’ regular-season finale.

Ernie Duncan had 14 points for Vermont (24-6, 14-2 America East Conference), which earned its fifth consecutive home victory. Anthony Lamb added 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks. Everett Duncan had six rebounds.
Christian Lutete had 22 points for the River Hawks (15-16, 7-9), which will open the America East Tournament on the road on Saturday. Obadiah Noel added 10 points. Bryce Daley had six rebounds.
The Catamounts improve to 2-0 against the River Hawks on the season. Vermont defeated UMass Lowell 74-65 on Feb. 2.
LOWELL -- After jumping out to a six-goal lead in the first half, the UMass Lowell women’s lacrosse team coasted to a 15-8 victory over Merrimack College.
The River Hawks (3-4) started strong, with tallies by Kristina Keith, Kendyl Finelli, Jane Dudley, Hannah Rose and Cameron McKelvin.
Paige MacEachern scored 2 goals in the second half and Dudly, McKelvin and Keith all ended up with hat tricks.
HANOVER, N.H. -- Senior Cory Highfield scored 4 goals and Ryan Morrison added 3 more as the UMass Lowell men’s lacrosse team knocked off host Dartmouth, 13-8.
The River Hawks (2-2) exploded for 9 goals in the second half. Highfield’s 4 were a career-high and Morrison netted his first career hat trick. William Russo also added 4 points (2g, 2a).
Senior goalie Grant Lardieri totaled 9 saves in his first win of the season. Freshman Liam McDonough (Groton) amassed 12 ground balls and won 18-of-25 faceoffs (72 percent) for UML.
