Robert Griffin III re-signs with Ravens on two-year deal
Robert Griffin III has made himself a new NFL home.
The former Washington Redskins quarterback will return to the Baltimore Ravens on a two-year deal to back up Lamar Jackson, NFL Network reported.
Two-year deal for RG3 to stay in Baltimore. Big keep for the #Ravens, who wanted him back in their QB room with Lamar Jackson. https://t.co/1341hWXh9h Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 21, 2019
The Ravens, having traded Joe Flacco to Denver earlier this offseason, only had one quarterback under contract until this move. Griffin was a Raven last year on a one-year deal, but only played 21 snaps in three games in the regular season.
Coach John Harbaugh has made it clear Jackson is the Ravens’ starting quarterback going forward, but Griffin may be pressed into action if the young dual-threat quarterback suffers an injury of any kind.
Griffin was Washington’s second overall draft pick in 2012 and started at quarterback for the Redskins for three years until injuries and decline in play led to them unceremoniously parting ways.
