Grandmother arrested after child brings meth to school
EAST LYNN, W.Va. — A 46-year-old Wayne woman was arrested after her grandson brought suspected crystal meth to East Lynn Elementary School — telling classmates he had “found a tooth” in a plastic bag inside his glove.
Cheryl Lynn Brown is charged with child neglect creating risk of injury, according to criminal complaints from Cabell County Magistrate Court.
Wayne County deputies were called to East Lynn Elementary on Monday morning after the school’s principal overheard the kindergartner tell his classmates in the breakfast line that he had “found a tooth” in his glove. The principal asked to see the object, which appeared to be crystal meth inside a small plastic bag, the complaint states.
The boy told the principal he had spent the weekend at Brown’s residence in the 1500 block of Little Lynn Road in Wayne with her and his mother.
Brown was booked into Western Regional Jail at 4 p.m. Monday on a $30,000 cash-only bond.
