Stokes out of T20 with broken hand
LONDON (AP) — England all-rounder Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the Twenty20 in Bangladesh after fracturing his right hand by punching a locker in anger.
The England and Wales Cricket Board said on Friday that Stokes will return to England to undergo further assessment. He will be replaced in the squad by Chris Woakes.
Stokes picked up the injury during the Twenty20 match against West Indies on Thursday after hitting a locker in the dressing room following his dismissal.
Stokes said: “I am really disappointed to be missing out on going to a World Twenty20 with England. It was a huge error in judgment following a frustrating tour for me and I deeply regret my behavior. I would like to wish the team all the very best in Bangladesh.”
