HomeAid Houston’s Hurricane Harvey rebuild initiative, BuildAid is providing assistance to homeowners whose homes were devastated by the floods. Once pre-qualified, these homeowners will be matched with experienced builder members of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) who will walk them through a finish selection process and the actual remodeling.
Dozens of GHBA members are donating their services to help these families who are receiving assistance from BuildAid as they restore not only their homes but their lives. One such organization is 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty (2-10 HBW), one of the leaders in home protection. 2-10 HBW offers comprehensive warranty products that provide financial protection for builders, real estate professionals and homeowners, that include structural warranties for newly built homes as well as home warranty service agreements for existing homes.
2-10 HBW is covering homes receiving restoration through BuildAid with a one-year workmanship warranty that covers the scope of work that the contractors repair. They will also field all warranty calls that come in and direct them to the contractors if an item is not functioning properly.
“Houston is my home.” said McCalle Fryar, a 2-10 HBW builder solution specialist. “When Harvey hit, it was devastating to see the destruction it caused. I was able to create a warranty specific to BuildAid’s initiative. I couldn’t be more proud of 2-10 for supporting our community.”
To get flooded homeowners back in their homes, BuidAid typically includes the following cost categories: insulation/drywall/tape/float/texture/paint, cabinetry, countertops, millwork and trim, door hardware, plumbing, kitchen and bathroom tile, pre and post-construction inspections and final clean. The builder provides a detailed, line item estimate of the rebuild and will manage the construction process from beginning to end. Homes across the greater Houston area are being restored through this program.
“It is GHBA members like 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty who are making a difference for these homeowners, many of whom, a year after the storm, are still waiting for assistance,” said Bette Moser, executive director of HomeAid Houston. “We can’t thank them enough for all they continue to do for BuildAid and these families.”
