Woman accused of shooting gas station clerk arrested
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — State police in Rhode Island say they have arrested a woman suspected of shooting a gas station clerk in Massachusetts.
Twenty-six-year-old Ashley Weaver, of Providence, was taken into custody Thursday after a traffic stop in the city. Police say a 40-caliber pistol was found.
Weaver faces charges in the shooting at a Mobil gas station in Attleboro in the early morning hours of May 20. Investigators say the suspect, wearing a monkey mask, shot the clerk during a struggle after demanding money. The victim survived.
Attleboro police issued a warrant for Weaver on charges including aggravated assault with a firearm.
Authorities say Weaver is also the subject of several warrants in Boston.
She’s being held in Rhode Island as a fugitive. It wasn’t immediately known if she has an attorney.
