Fundraiser to remember train crash victims planned
FOXBOROROUGH, Mass. (AP) — A fundraiser for a scholarship foundation set up in memory of three people who died when their vehicle was struck by a train in Mansfield is planned for this weekend.
The fundraiser in memory of Emily Harrop, Zachary Keene and David Curry is scheduled for Sunday at Showcase Live in Foxborough.
It features a raffle, silent auction and live music. Prizes include a signed Bruins puck, Red Sox tickets, hotel stays and gift cards.
Police said the three were in a vehicle that was on the tracks when it was struck by a Boston-bound Amtrak train just before midnight June 22.
Andy Stagon, one of the fundraiser’s organizers, tells The Sun Chronicle it’s important to keep their names alive.
The foundation hopes to provide three $1,000 scholarships to their high schools.
