Aspiring Waiter Sues Hooters Restaurant for Alleged Sex Discrimination
CHICAGO (AP) _ Hooters, a restaurant company known for its provocatively dressed waitresses, has been accused of sex discrimination - by a man.
A federal lawsuit filed Thursday claims Hooters has a nationwide policy of refusing to hire men for jobs visible to patrons, such as waiters and bartenders.
Savino Latuga says he applied in January for a waiter job at a suburban Hooters. The lawsuit says Latuga never heard back from the company.
It names Hooters of Clearwater Inc., the Florida company that owns the chain’s Chicago-area restaurants, but not Hooters of America Inc., the Atlanta-based chain.
A receptionist at the company’s Florida headquarters said no one would be available for comment until Monday.
