Season’s final Hanna’s Town antique sale set for Sunday
Sunday will be the last date this year for the periodic antiques and collectibles sales at Historic Hanna’s Town in Hempfield.
Organizers note rainy weather that hampered attendance during many of the sales earlier this season could be a boon for those who turn out for the finale.
Gates open at 7:30 a.m. Sunday for the event at 809 Forbes Trail Road, but some vendors may be set up and selling as early as 1 p.m. Saturday. Sales continue through early afternoon on Sunday.
“The sale takes place rain or shine, but when nature cooperates, everyone is happier,” Lisa Hays, executive director of the Westmoreland County Historical Society, said in a press release. “The rain during most event dates this year has discouraged attendance and has left vendors with a lot of antique and vintage items to sell before the year ends.”
There were more than 190 vendors on hand in July, the only month this year when the sales coincided with good weather, Hays said.
There is parking at the site. The admission charge of $3 per vehicle is split between the Forbes Road Volunteer Fire Department and the historical society, which manages Historic Hanna’s Town - a recreation of the county’s original colonial-era seat - for the county parks and recreation department.
Vendor fees benefit the society’s preservation and educational projects. Prospective vendors can get information by calling 724-532-1935.
