MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ A downtown power surge caused a bank of lights to go out in the Metrodome on Tuesday night, causing an 18-minute delay in the game between Boston and Minnesota.
Red Sox starting pitcher Frank Castillo was about to pitch to the Twins’ Cristian Guzman in the fifth inning when the lights dimmed. The Red Sox, who were leading 3-0, left the field for about 10 minutes.
Twins officials said the light failure was caused by a power surge that affected downtown Minneapolis.
