Temperatures rising to 10 degrees above average
The snow and ice that fell Wednesday and early Thursday should melt away today.
A Winter Weather Advisory for most of Connecticut ended at 6 a.m.
The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures near 50 degrees today.
Snowfall totals included 2 inches in Weston and an inch in Bridgeport and Easton.
The National Weather Service says “drier air will move into the region behind a departing low moving out into the Atlantic as low level flow becomes morewesterly this morning. Winds will become gusty Thursday out of the west after a cold front moves east of the region during the afternoon.
“The colder air will be mixing down to the surface, and this will limit high temperatures. Still though,highs will be approaching close to 10 degrees above normal.”
Saturday is looking like the best weather day of the weekend with sunny skies and temps in the upper 30s and low 40s. Rain moves in Saturday night.
Thursday: Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 49. Wind chill values between 30 and 40 early. West wind 5 to 11 mph.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 30. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Saturday Night: Rain, mainly after 8pm. Low around 37. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
Sunday: Rain before noon, then a chance of showers after noon. High near 54. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
