Ohio Files Suit Vs. Microsoft
CINCINNATI (AP) _ Add Ohio to the list of states where Microsoft Corp. is being sued.
Cincinnati attorney Stanley Chesley filed federal and state lawsuits Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Columbus and in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court in Cincinnati. Chesley, a class-action specialist, wants to get the suits certified as class actions.
Several lawsuits have been filed on behalf of computer users since a federal judge ruled on Nov. 5 that Microsoft is a software monopolist. Tuesday’s filings are similar to others that claim that Microsoft overcharged customers for its Windows software program.
Federal lawsuits have been filed in Alabama and Louisiana, and state lawsuits have been filed in California and New York. All seek class-action status, potentially on behalf of millions of consumers.
