Arkansas OL Malone out for season with knee injury
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas offensive lineman Deion Malone will miss the season with a knee injury suffered during practice.
Razorbacks coach Chad Morris says Malone injured his knee during a pass-rush drill on Monday, and that the senior underwent surgery Monday night.
The injury is the third significant one to an Arkansas offensive lineman this summer. Junior Colton Jackson is out at least six games to start the season with a back injury, and freshman Ryan Winkel had surgery for an injured pectoral muscle and is likely out for the season.
The 6-foot-3, 293-pound Malone played his first two seasons at Northwest (Miss.) Community College and hasn’t played the last two years at Arkansas.
The Razorbacks open their season against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 1.
