Barnwell man charged in connection with January armed robbery in Aiken

A Barnwell man was charged Tuesday in connection to an January armed robbery of a vehicle at a Circle K on York Street in Aiken.

Raheem Jamar Galloway, 20, is charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to jail records.

On Jan. 23, officers with the Aiken Department of Public Safety responded to the Circle K around 9:30 p.m. and met with a 32-year-old Aiken woman, who claimed the suspect exited a golden Cadillac Escalade while she was pumping gas and pointed a pistol at her, according to the report.

The suspect stole the victim’s vehicle and followed the Escalade out of the parking lot, heading east along the bypass, the report states.

The victim also told officers the suspect stole her purse and cellphone, which were inside the car when he took it, police reported.

Following an investigation, Galloway was determined to be the suspect involved in the armed robbery.

Galloway was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Aiken County detention center, where he was still being held Thursday afternoon.
