Havasu woman indicted on drug charges
A Lake Havasu City woman was indicted last Thursday on charges of possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after her arrest earlier this month.
Lake Havasu City Police officers responded to a Shoshone Place residence earlier this month after receiving reports of an unconscious woman who was alleged to be using illegal drugs. According to the police report, witnesses found 28-year-old Cassie J. Vollmer unconscious in her bed, with a piece of burnt tinfoil and a straw resting between her legs.
Officers arrived at the scene, where they found Vollmer conscious and sitting in her bed. According to the police report, there was a warrant for Vollmer’s arrest, and she was taken into custody at the scene. A search of Vollmer’s person allegedly yielded a burnt straw, allegedly used to ingest illegal drugs.
According to police, Vollmer told officers she had just cleaned out her purse and found the straw within. The witness who found Vollmer provided officers with the burnt tinfoil and straw allegedly found while she was unconscious. According to police, the straw and foil later tested positive for the presence of heroin.
Vollmer allegedly asked officers if she could take two of her other purses with her to Lake Havasu City Jail. A search of those purses allegedly yielded another burnt straw, which also tested positive for heroin use, the report said. A clear plastic bag was also located in one of Vollmer’s purses, the report said, which contained suspected heroin.
Vollmer is scheduled to appear in Mohave County Superior Court today for arraignment, and remains in Mohave County Jail on $10,000 bond.
