Get to Know: Sean O’Leary

September 18, 2018

Sean O’Leary

Age: 43

Occupation: Owner of Ristretto Coffee Lounge and Wine Bar. Owning a coffee shop has been his partner Colleen’s dream, and when Ristretto went up for sale they decided to purchase it. “This is such a gem in Mount Vernon. I was worried someone else would buy it and turn it into a dive bar.”

Where are you from? Seattle

When did you move to Skagit County? 2014

Why did you move to Skagit County? “To get out of the hustle and bustle of Seattle. And I owned a business in Arlington.”

What do you like about living in Skagit? “It’s the gateway to the North Cascades. It’s a great area as a base camp for fishing and hiking. Mount Vernon has changed a lot; it’s definitely more of a welcoming pit stop (between Seattle and Bellingham).”

What makes you happy? “Great coffee, dark beer, my kids, my partner, employing people. I really think Ristretto builds community.”

What did you want to be when you grew up? “I always knew I’d be an entrepreneur.”

The world would be a better place if: “People got off their screens and talked to each other. Called their mom.”

What would be your spirit animal? An owl.

What would you do with $1 million? “Buy property in Mount Vernon. Buy an old building, preferably this old building (where Ristretto is located). Save some for my kids’ education.”

Biggest pet peeve: Disorganized uncleanliness.

What are you binge watching right now? “Vikings.”

What three things would you take with you to a deserted island? Water, family and a boat.

Favorite vacation spot: Baker Lake.
