Woman, 87, dies in house fire in western Pennsylvania
VINTONDALE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a woman died in an early morning fire in a western Pennsylvania home over the weekend.
Emergency dispatchers in Cambria County say firefighters were called to the Vintondale home shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
Coroner Jeffrey Lees says arriving crews found the first floor of the home ablaze and flames spreading to the second story.
Crews from Vintondale, Nanty Glo and Jackson Township brought the flames under control. Emergency crews from Ebensburg and Blacklick Valley also responded,
Lees says the body of 87-year-old Rose Mazey was found in the living room on the first floor. She was pronounced dead just after 5 a.m. Saturday.
Lees says his office is still awaiting results of an autopsy Saturday but the death doesn’t appear suspicious.
