United Way’s 14th annual Family Fun Day scheduled for Saturday at Odell Weeks Center
Parents looking for something to do with their children this weekend might want to head to the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center.
The United Way of Aiken County’s 14th annual Family Fun Day will be held there from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
“This is a way for us to give back to the community,” said United Way President Sharon Rodgers. “We want to say thank you for all the support that the community gives to the United Way and to all of our partner agencies.”
There will be games with prizes, face painting and inflatables.
The cost for a lunch consisting of a hotdog, chips and drink will be $3.
“It will be like a fall festival,” said Rodgers of Fun Day.
Representatives of 15 of the United Way’s partner agencies will be on hand to provide information about their services.
“It will be a good opportunity for families to learn about the resources that are available to them,” Rodgers said.
At noon, John Mickalonis and Stephanie Franklin will report on the progress of the United Way’s 2018 fundraising campaign that kicked off officially in late August and has a goal of $2,690,956.
Mickalonis is the chairman of the United Way’s board of directors, and Franklin is the fundraising campaign’s chairwoman.
The United Way is asking each family that attends Fun Day to bring a can of food.
All the canned goods collected will be donated to the Golden Harvest Food Bank.
The Weeks Center is at 1700 Whiskey Road.
The area around the picnic shelter near Whiskey Road will be the site of the Fun Day activities.
