SUNDAY SHOPPING RESTRICTIONS

BISMARCK, N.D. _ The North Dakota Senate has its second chance in two years to repeal the state’s longstanding Sunday business restrictions that are rooted in religious tradition. The measure lifting the state’s so-called blue laws is schedule for a floor vote on Tuesday. Republican Rep. Shannon Roers Jones of Fargo says a straw poll shows her measure may pass the Senate this year but without the help of her father, Fargo GOP Sen. Jim Roers, who is against the repeal. WINTER WEATHER-FLOODING-HAY HELP

BISMARCK, N.D. _ The Plains farm aid nonprofit Farm Rescue is launching an effort to bring donated hay to flood-stricken Nebraska ranchers. North Dakota-based Farm Rescue first activated its “Operation Hay Lift” program to help drought-stricken Upper Midwest ranchers in 2017. Dozens of volunteer truckers hauled hundreds of loads of hay to the region.
