LCTA Night Service Starts Tonight

September 24, 2018

Night bus service starts tonight in Luzerne County. Better yet, the first 30 days of night service will be free to those who board buses after 7 p.m., according to the Luzerne County Transportation Authority. The night service will feature five new routes, with a focus on the busiest areas for employment, commerce and social activities in the county, according to an LCTA news release. The routes will service Hanover Industrial Park, CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park, Mohegan Sun Pocono casino, the Wyoming Valley Mall and Luzerne County Community College. The routes will link together at key locations, according to LCTA. The two major connection points will be the community college’s Nanticoke campus, as well as downtown Pittston, at the corner of William and Main streets. The night service routes include: • Kingston-Pittston: Kingston/Wyoming Avenue through West Pittston, crossing to Pittston. • Mall-casino-CenterPoint-Pittston: Also servicing King’s College and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. • West Side-LCCC: Kingston/Route 11 to the LCCC campus in Nanticoke. • Ashley-Hanover Industrial Park-LCCC: Wilkes-Barre to Hanover Industrial Park to LCCC, return on Sans Souci Parkway. • Georgetown & Blackman Street loop: Servicing Wegman’s, Kohl’s and Kmart in Wilkes-Barre Twp. The addition of night service has caused some modifications to day service routes, according to LCTA. Information about those changes is available at: www.lctabus.com/schedules/upcomingchanges.html. For detailed information on route times, schedules and maps, the authority encourages passengers and the public to visit www.lctabus.com. Night service schedules are also available at the intermodal center in Wilkes-Barre and at the LCTA office, 315 Northampton St., Kingston. Contact the writer: emark@citizensvoice.com 570-821-2117
