Rock Springs schools consider 4-day week, other options
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — The Rock Springs school district will consider moving to a four-day school week, but officials say nothing has been decided.
The Rock Springs Rocket-Miner reported Saturday that calendar committee for Sweetwater County School District No. 1 will weigh both a four- and five-day week.
The district is also considering two alternative calendars that would let students out early either one day a month or every other Friday.
The goal would be to give teachers more collaborative planning time. The school board has the final say.
Every two years, the calendar committee recommends a schedule for the following two years.
The district considered a four-day week in 2016 to save money. The district’s human resources director, Nicole Bolton, says it’s being considered this time at the request of students and staff.
