Alabama councilwoman, daughter arrested for fight
TARRANT, Ala. (AP) — A member of the Tarrant City Council has been arrested after an argument at her home.
Tarrant Police Chief Dennis Reno tells Al.com that officers were dispatched to the home about 12:30 a.m. Friday. Councilwoman Tanyika Fields and her 20-year-old daughter, Javaria Fields, both were taken into custody on domestic violence charges.
Reno did not elaborate on the nature of the fight, but said that after officers arrived, the 40-year-old councilwoman threw a plastic tote bag full of clothing at one of the officers, cutting the officer’s leg.
In addition to the domestic violence charge, Tanyika Fields also faces a charge of harassment/simple assault for injuring the officer. Both charges are misdemeanors.
It was unknown if either woman has an attorney.
