Gunman sought after Fayetteville man driving with toddler shot to death

Police said Friday they were searching for a Wilson man in connection with a shooting death in Fayetteville on Monday night.

Officers responding to a reported shooting in the 6300 block of Raeford Road found a crashed vehicle near the intersection of Bingham Drive and McDougal Drive.

The driver, Justin L. Williams, 42, had been shot and died at the scene.

A 14-month-old inside the vehicle was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and was listed in good condition, police said.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Lavaris Davarian Speight, 20, of the 2500 block of Brandon Circle in Wilson, charging hims with first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle and assault in the presence of a minor.
