HARVEY WEINSTEIN - WHAT'S NEXT

NEW YORK (AP) — The next legal step in the Harvey Weinstein case is set for Sept. 20 — when the judge handling matter has called for another session. As he awaits his next court date, Weinstein is free on $1 million bail — but he isn't totally free. He has had to surrender his passport and must wear an electronic monitor as he stays at his home in Westport, Connecticut. Prosecutors asked yesterday that he be forced to stay in Manhattan and be put on house arrest. But the judge rejected that request. Meanwhile, Weinstein's attorney says he expects more criminal charges to be filed against his client. But Ben Brafman didn't elaborate on that statement.

HARVEY WEINSTEIN HELPING HIS OWN LEGAL CAUSE

NEW YORK (AP) — Harvey Weinstein, paralegal? That's the role his lawyer suggests the movie mogul is playing these days. Ben Brafman says Weinstein is helping to craft a defense against charges that could land him in prison for the rest of his life. Brafman says Weinstein is helping to find witnesses, email and other evidence to support his claim of innocence. Weinstein has been indicted in New York — with the revised indictment including a third woman's claim that he forced sex on her. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to the all charges.

ACCUSER VOWS TO TAKE STAND AGAINST WEINSTEIN

NEW YORK (AP) — The lawyer for the woman whose allegations led to new charges against Harvey Weinstein is issuing a challenge. Gloria Allred says her client intends to take the stand to testify against the movie producer. But she says she doubts Weinstein will do the same. A defendant isn't required to testify in a criminal case — and jurors are reminded not to read anything into the fact that a defendant doesn't take the stand.

GEORGE CLOONEY HURT IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

ROME (AP) — Hospital officials on the Italian island of Sardinia say actor George Clooney was treated and released after his motor scooter and a car collided on a state road. A Clooney spokesman says the actor "is recovering at his home and will be fine." Daily newspaper La Nuova Sardegna said the 57-year-old Clooney was heading to a film set when the Mercedes hit his motorbike at a curve in the road near the entrance to a residential compound. An oil stain and police paint remained on the road Tuesday; photographs taken by someone passing the scene showed the car's front right bumper damaged and Clooney's bike on its side. Clooney has a home on the Italian mainland, on Lake Como.

JOHNNY DEPP LAWSUIT

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A member of a film crew that did an upcoming movie on the death of rapper Biggie Smalls is suing Johnny Depp. The suit is filed by location manager Greg "Rocky" Brooks — and includes the film's director and producers as defendants, in addition to Depp. Brooks claims that during shooting, Depp punched him twice in the ribs. Brooks says he was asked to sign a document waiving his right to sue over the incident — and when he refused, he was fired. The suit seeks unspecified damages. The movie is titled "City of Lies" — and is due out in September.

INDIANA JONES 5 DELAYED

NEW YORK (AP) — Indiana Jones won't be swinging back into movie theaters until at least 2021. The Walt Disney Co. on Tuesday announced that the planned fifth installment in the "Indiana Jones" franchise will be released in July 2021 instead of July 2020. The film was originally scheduled for release in the summer of 2019. Script issues are reportedly behind the delay. Last month, "Solo: A Star Wars Story" co-screenwriter Jonathan Kasdan was brought on to help write the film. Steven Spielberg is set to direct the latest "Indiana Jones" film, with Harrison Ford also reprising his role. Ford turns 79 years old in July 2021. Spielberg also has a number of films in front of "Indiana Jones," including a remake of "West Side Story."

EMMY NOMINATIONS TO BE ANNOUNCED THURSDAY

LOS ANGELES (AP) — If "Roseanne" has a shot at Emmy honors, it's because television academy voters are willing to overlook Roseanne Barr's racist tweet that ended the revival after one triumphant season. Barr, the sitcom and its ensemble cast are vying for Emmy nominations to be announced Thursday morning. They were submitted for consideration before the show was axed and no one, Barr included, asked to be withdrawn. In the best drama series contest, last year's champ "The Handmaid's Tale" will likely get a chance to defend its title against previous two-time winner "Game of Thrones." The fantasy saga was ineligible last year because of its schedule, but is back in contention for its next-to-last season. On the comedy side, the contest is wide open with the absence of three-time winner "Veep" and its powerhouse star Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

BEYONCE, JAY-Z, OPRAH TO ATTEND MANDELA TRIBUTE EVENT

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — A who's who of American celebrities is expected to attend an event in South Africa this year. Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Forest Whitaker, Tyler Perry, Oprah Winfrey, Usher, Pharrell Williams are to be on hand for events to mark the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's birth. The anti-apartheid leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner died five years ago.

DRAKE DOMINATING CHARTS

NEW YORK (AP) — It's getting to the point where they might as well just call the Billboard charts the Drake charts. It's hard to tell the difference between the charts and the rapper's list of releases. Seven of Drake's current songs are in the Top 10 on Billboard. And all 25 tracks from his new release "Scorpion" — all of them — are on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Drake's top-10 triumph eclipses a record the Beatles set in 1964, when five of their hits reached the Top 10 in the same week. Mind you, all this chart success for Drake is a trend, not a blip. Since 2009, he has had 186 songs on the Hot 100 chart, second only to the cast of "Glee," which has charted 207.

JUSTIN BIEBER IS ENGAGED

NEW YORK (AP) — If Justin Bieber has, indeed, found his true love — the search didn't take long. He popped the question to 21-year-old model Hailey Baldwin a month after they began dating. The engagement is confirmed by a post on the singer's Instagram site yesterday, which includes a photo of Baldwin kissing him. In the post, Bieber promises to put Baldwin first and calls her the love of his life. Baldwin is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin.

SPRINGSTEEN CHILDHOOD HOME TO BE SOLD

FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) — It's the New Jersey home where Bruce Springsteen lived when he first saw Elvis Presley on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in 1956. And now it's been sold. The Asbury Park Press reports the two-family home in the town of Freehold has gone for $255,000. That's a slight drop from the $269,000 it was listed for in November. The Springsteens lived on the left side of the two-family unit from 1955 to 1962.

GARTH BROOKS - NOTRE DAME CONCERT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz notes that when he was leading the Fighting Irish, fans wouldn't always leave the stadium happy. But he predicts everyone will be pleased when Garth Brooks plays the stadium. When he does, it will mark the first time a musician has taken the Notre Dame gridiron for a concert. So, when will this happen? Short answer: we don't know yet. The concert date will be set once organizers see the final version of the Notre Dame football schedule.

TRAVIS PASTRANA REPLICATES THREE EVEN KNIEVEL STUNTS

LAS VEGAS (AP) —Travis Pastrana has successfully done what Evel Knievel couldn't: pull off three of the daredevil's most dangerous stunts in Las Vegas. In a show called "Evel Live" on the History Channel Sunday, Pastrana cleared 52 crushed cars in a 143-foot jump and 16 Greyhound buses in a 192-foot jump. To cap his night, he sailed 149 feet over the Caesars Palace fountain. Knievel tried the same Caesars jump in 1967 — but crashed short of the landing ramp, crushing his pelvis and breaking many bones. Even Knievel died in 2007 at age 69.
