EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) _ Kelli Roehrig had 15 points, including 11 during a 24-2 run to start the game, and No. 15 Michigan State routed Central Connecticut State 77-42 on Saturday in the first game of the Spartan Classic.

Liz Shimek had 16 points and eight rebounds to help the bigger, stronger Spartans win their season opener.

Kristin Haynie went 5-for-5 and added 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and a career-high seven steals. Michigan State took advantage of 34 turnovers by the Blue Devils _ 21 in the first half.

Brittney Dixon scored 10 points to lead Central Connecticut (0-1).

Michigan State will face No. 18 Boston College in the championship game on Sunday.
