DEEP: No Child Left Inside saltwater fishing day scheduled

July 24, 2018

As part of the No Child Left Inside program, there will be a saltwater fishing day in August, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced.

The program worked in partnership with the Connecticut Aquatic Resources Education to create saltwater fishing day on Saturday, Aug. 11.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., participants can fish at the Fort Trumbull State Park fishing pier in New London.

No registration is required, but those over the age of 16 must have a fishing license. DEEP said free one-day licenses will be available at www.ct.gov/deep/fishing.

During the event, people will learn about fishing, crabbing, fish catching tactics and more.

Fishing poles, tackle and bait will be made available to borrow for those who want to participate but don’t have their own supplies.
