Passenger dies in wreck during South Carolina police chase
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a passenger in a vehicle speeding away from police trying to pull it over has died in a crash.
Greenville County Senior Deputy Coroner Kent Dill said 30-year-old Michael Mansell died at the scene of the wreck on Interstate 85 in Greenville around 9:35 p.m. Monday.
Dill says Mansell was a passenger in a car that a state trooper was trying to pull over.
Dill says in a statement the driver was speeding and ran off the highway trying to exit, going down an embankment. The driver was taken to the hospital.
