Margalee Adkins of Wayne

MARGALEE ADKINS, 87, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord to rest from her labors on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at her residence, surrounded by her family and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Elders Danny Wooten and Emual Adkins officiating. Burial followed in Jones Cemetery, East Lynn, W.Va. She was born on October 16, 1931, at Logan, W.Va., a daughter of the late Aley and Ethel Asbury Wooten. Margalee was a homemaker and a member of the Wolf Pen Church of Christ. She devoted her life to praising, singing and teaching her family to know the Lord. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Adkins; granddaughters, Janessa Danielle Kelly and Jennifer Booten; brothers, Earl, Burl, Frank and Ervin Wooten; and a sister, Macie Wooten Adkins. Survivors include her daughter, with whom she made her home, Ethel “Denese” Maynard (Chester) of Wayne, W.Va.; three sons, David L. Adkins (Neltha) of Huntington, W.Va., Dale A. Adkins (Cheryl) and Danvel E. Adkins (Alisha), all of Barboursville, W.Va.; two brothers, Homer Wooten (Maple) of Wayne, W.Va., and Henry “Dude” Wooten (Minta) of East Lynn, W.Va. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Paige Morrison (Ryan), Colin Kelly, Jeremy Maynard, Anne Marie Maynard, Alena Adkins, Jeremy Winters (Mary Ellen), Kristina Lambert, Danvel Adkins Jr. (Erica), Alexa Adkins, Cheryl Liu and David Adkins Jr.; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to send a special thank you to her caregivers, Brenda Davis, Kay Spry and Elizabeth Wooten, and Hospice of Huntington. Pallbearers will be David Adkins Jr., Colin Kelly, Jeremy Maynard, Ryan Morrison, Jeremy Winters, Seth Frye and Dewey Wooten. Proverbs 31: 10-12 “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.”
