NAGANO, Japan (AP) _ Austria, seeking to improve upon its last-place finish at the 1994 Olympics, scored with 1:09 remaining Sunday to tie Kazakstan 5-5, its second tie in as many hockey games.

Andreas Puschnig scored two goals, including the tying one, and Dominik Lavoie had two goals as Austria blew a two-goal lead in the second period.

Lavoie had a goal Saturday in Austria's 2-2 tie with Slovakia, giving him three in two games.

Kazakstan was looking for its second victory, having beaten Italy 5-3 on Saturday.

Kazakstan, playing its first Olympic hockey tournament, got two goals in the final seven minutes to take a 5-4 lead. Andrey Sokolov tied the game on a point-blank shot and then Alexander Koreshkov scored on a wrist shot.

After Austria won a faceoff, Puschnig scored on a rebound of a slap shot to salvage the tie in front of a packed house at Big Hat arena that included Britain's Princess Anne.

Austrian Ice Hockey Federation president Dieter Kalt filed a written protest before the game to the International Ice Hockey Federation about the choice of Russian Leonid Vaisfeld as referee because most of the Kazakstan players are from Russia.
