Cops seize drugs in area of city plagued by fatal overdoses
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Police in Hartford say they have seized more than 500 bags of heroin and other drugs in a part of the city that has seen a number of fatal overdoses in recent days.
The Courant reports that the drugs were confiscated on Wednesday from an apartment by narcotic detectives executing a search warrant.
There was no immediate word on whether anyone was arrested. Police said on Twitter the apartment was located in the area where the recent rash of deaths have occurred.
Officials earlier reported five deaths from drug overdoses within a 15-hour period beginning Monday evening and continuing into Tuesday.
Two additional deaths were reported on Wednesday.
Police said they are increasingly seeing fentanyl present in pill form and mixed with heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine.
