Man re-indicted for Corpus Christi woman’s slaying

December 29, 2017

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Prosecutors have upgraded charges against a man already accused of murdering a 21-year-old Corpus Christi woman 14 months ago.

Court records reviewed by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times show 27-year-old Joseph Tejeda was re-indicted Thursday on four new charges, including capital murder, for the slaying of Breanna Wood. She was reported missing by her mother in October 2016. Her body was found the following January in an abandoned trailer near Robstown.

Wood was last seen with Tejeda at a convenience store and he initially was charged in March with her murder. If convicted of the new capital murder charge, he could receive the death penalty.

The newspaper says Nueces County prosecutors sought the capital murder count based on evidence the slaying involved payment or the promise of payment.
