Saints visit Dallas...Flacco practices...Cavaliers complete Korver trade
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Drew Brees and the Saints try for their 11th straight win when they visit Dallas tonight. The 10-1 Saints can wrap up the NFC South title with four games remaining if they win tonight and Carolina loses at Tampa Bay on Sunday. The 6-5 Cowboys are coming off a Thanksgiving win over Washington that vaulted them to a tie for the NFC East lead with the Redskins.
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has returned to the practice field for the first time since injuring his right hip on Nov. 4. Flacco threw passes and worked on handoffs with fellow quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Robert Griffin III during an indoor practice today. Coach John Harbaugh hasn’t named a starting quarterback for Sunday’s game in Atlanta, but it appears likely Jackson will get the call. The first-round draft pick led Baltimore to wins in each of the past two games.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cavaliers have finalized their trade with Utah and sent Kyle Korver to the Jazz. The teams agreed to the deal yesterday and completed the transaction today following a conference call with NBA officials. Cleveland shipped Korver to the Jazz for guard Alec Burks and second-round draft picks in 2020 and 2021.
UNDATED (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have placed Scott Darling on waivers, while the Arizona Coyotes claimed fellow goaltender Calvin Pickard off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers. In other moves, Pittsburgh has re-claimed forward Jean-Sebastien Dea off waivers from New Jersey, the Hurricanes waived forward Valentin Zykov, the Blues waived forward Nikita Soshnikov and the Ducks waived forward Ben Street.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Kathryn Carson is the new board chair at USA Gymnastics. The organization announced Carson’s election today. She replaces Karen Golz, who stepped down after taking over as chair of a newly appointed board in June. Carson’s ascension comes as the U.S. Olympic Committee is in the process of decertifying the organization’s role as the national governing body for the sport. USA Gymnastics is also facing numerous legal battles amid the fallout of the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal.
