June 13, 2018

Cody Morgan Denton, 23, 2630 N. Sherman Road, Ludington, was sentenced in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday to 47 months minimum to a maximum of 15 years in prison on charges of breaking and entering with intent and larceny of firearms, habitual offender second offense.

According to the presentence report read by Judge Susan K. Sniegowski, Denton was involved with breaking and entering into Quinn’s Towing in Amber Township.

Denton told the court that he lifted his co defendant Stacy Green through a window in order to get inside the building. Once inside, Denton said Green had a key to open the cabinet where money was being kept.

According to Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola, a gun was stolen during the break in and was obtained by the Wyoming Police Department during a traffic stop.

Sniegowski said because of Denton’s extensive record, with seven prior felonies and seven prior misdemeanors, it didn’t matter if Denton was the leader or follower, he was still an active participant in the crime.
