HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Rashamel Jones scored 16 points to lead four teammates in double figures as Connecticut defeated Yale 72-39 on Friday.

Jones had 11 of his points in the first half when UConn (2-1) took a 29-13 lead. Jones also led UConn with seven rebounds.

Ricky Moore and Kirk King added 12 points each while Monquencio Hardnett had 11.

The lead changed hands twice early before UConn scored five straight points to go ahead for good, 9-5.

Yale closed to 9-8 and 14-10, but the Huskies scored 15 of the final 18 points in the half to get a more comfortable lead.

In the second half, the Huskies had runs of seven and 11 straight points to put the game out of reach, 54-25, with just over eight minutes remaining.

Yale (1-2) got 14 points and eight rebounds from Daniel Okonkwo, the only Eli with more than five points.

UConn limited Yale to 27 percent shooting on 12-of-44 from the field.
