Columbus 77, New England 64

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Valerie Still scored six of her 23 points in a 16-4 run to start the third quarter and the Columbus Quest beat the New England Blizzard 77-64 Friday night.

The Quest (17-5) led 32-25 at halftime, as New England (10-12) tied a franchise record for fewest points in the half.

Columbus then scored the first 10 points of the second half, with Still capping the run with three layups. Columbus led by as much as 61-41 after two free throws by Tonya Edwards with 6:48 left.

Shannon Johnson, who hit two 3-pointers as Columbus took a 10-3 lead it never lost, finished with 14 points and six rebounds. Katie Smith added 13 for Columbus, which won its fourth game in five starts.

Shanda Berry came off the bench to score 18 points for New England, which lost its sixth game in seven starts. Carolyn Jones was held to 14 points, 6 under her average, while shooting only 4-for-14 from the field.
