Firm To Name New Chairman
LONDON (AP) _ Unilever PLC, British half of the Anglo-Dutch foods and household products company, announced Tuesday that Chairman Sir Kenneth Durham will retire at the company’s annual general meeting in May 1986.
The boards of the British and Dutch sides said in a statement that they intend to elect Michael R. Angus as chairman of Unilever PLC and a vice- chairman of Unilever N.V.
Angus, 55, was elected a member of Unilever’s special committee and a vice- chairman of Unilever PLC in May 1984. Durham, 61, became chairman of Unilever PLC in May 1982. He is retiring after 36 years with the company.
Unilever is one of the largest manufacturing and trading operations outside the United States, producing mainly packaged fods, detergents and toiletries.
