BEATING DEATH-CHARGES _ One of two people charged in the slaying of a Des Moines man has been convicted of murder.

BREAK-IN DEATH _ A prosecutor says an Iowa dentist won’t be charged in the death of a man suspected of trying to steal items from the dentist’s office.

WOMAN WOUNDED-CHASE _ Authorities say a 20-year-old woman was shot in a leg while chasing would-be car thieves in Council Bluffs.

WIFE SHOT _ Authorities say a man shot his wife in western Iowa after mistaking her for an intruder trying to get into their home.

BAR FIGHT-DEFENSE _ A man who had said he was only defending himself when he beat another man at a central Iowa bar has been given 50 years in prison.

BBC-BIG TEN-ILLINOIS-MICHIGAN _ Jordan Nwogu drilled a two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to push Michigan past Illinois 5-4 on Thursday in the Big Ten Tournament.
