Jefferson library hosts programs for all ages

JEFFERSON -- The Jefferson Public Library has announced its upcoming activities.

The library’s holiday hours are as follows: Dec. 22-25, closed; Dec. 26 and 27, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Dec. 28, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Dec. 29, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Dec. 31, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; Jan. 1, 2019, closed.

In youth programming:

-- Maker Monday will be Monday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The theme will be making snowflake ornaments. The craft will be available all week while supplies last.

-- Storytime will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. It will include stories, songs and rhymes designed to help children develop the early literacy skills they need to be reading ready. The activity is suitable for ages 1-5.

-- A SHELF teen volunteer meeting will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Teens going into sixth-grade and up are invited to join this teen volunteer group. This month, teens will make Christmas cards and send them to local VA hospitals and veterans groups.

In adult programming, the library is hosting holiday trivia now to Dec. 21. Patrons can stop by the library and pick up a trivia sheet to be entered in the weekly trivia contests.

In addition, Guitarcheology and “Radio Ron” will perform seasonal readings accompanied by acoustic guitar music Friday, Dec. 14, from 4-5 p.m. in the library meeting room. The concert is free and open to the public.
